Frequently Asked Questions

Traditional hair removal methods, such as waxing, shaving, depilatory creams, plucking/tweezing, sugaring, and stringing provide only temporary results — some for fewer than 24 hours. Within hours or possibly days, you are back at it again, hunched over a magnifying mirror to tweeze out facial hair, running a razor over tender skin, or enduring painful waxing. To make it worse, these methods can often stimulate hair growth! Laser has another advantage, in that you NEVER AGAIN have to let the hair grow out a few days before your treatments in order to get it to work, as you do with the other methods. Once you start working with LaserLight, you begin your life of being hair free where you want to be!

The ideal patient is fair skinned with dark hair, but there is much evidence to show that through carefully researched settings, results can be achieved for different hair and skin types. The darker the hair, the more easily it is treated; as darker hair contains more melanin it will heat up more easily. Fairer hair contains less melanin and is harder to treat. Grey or white hair has no melanin so it cannot be effectively treated.

It begins by trimming away the hair above the skin. You may be asked to do this the day prior to your appointment. You will be asked to wear dark glasses to protect your eyes from the bright flashes of light. Next, a clod gel (similar to ultrasound gel) may be spread over the treatment area. The IPL hand-piece is then pulsed over your skin and begins disabling your unwanted hairs. When the gel is removed, much of the hairs will be intact in the skin with a bit of redness to the skins surface.

You will be asked to put on goggles to protect your eyes. A layer of chilled gel is applied to the area to guide the light to the skin. The area will also be cooled in increase comfort during treatment. The light guide is placed on the skin and a short pulse of light is released, targeting many follicles simultaneously. The applicator is then moved to the neighboring area of the skin and the process is repeated until the entire area is treated. The chilled gel is removed and the area is moisture.

More advanced than even lasers, IPL is the first photo-epilation technology proven to treat unwanted hair safely on any skin type – from very white to very black,. In order to ensure the best outcome, you may be asked about your medical history and skin type in order to estimate the results you should expect from you customized treatment program.
